AvtoVAZ says to start Lada assembly with min foreign parts Jun

MOSCOW, Apr 1 (PRIME) -- Russian largest carmaker AvtoVAZ will start producing versions of Lada cars with the minimum amount of foreign components from June, the company said in a statement on Friday.

“AvtoVAZ plans to begin production of several modifications with the minimum amount of foreign components from June and July,” the company said.

The company continues its efforts to find alternative solutions for key imported components to return to production of standard modifications as soon as possible, it said.

In late March, the company said that it would introduce a four-day workweek from June 6 for three months at its facilities in Izhevsk and Tolyatti due to continuing deficit of electronic components. The facilities have been going in and out of downtime since March 5 due to the deficit.

AvtoVAZ also supported a suggestion of the Industry and Trade Ministry to adapt a new technical regulation that will allow it to lower safety requirements.
